President Trump is the chief executive of the United States of America. He is also the commander in chief of the United States military. He has not only the right, but the responsibility and duty to seek out and correct financial waste, error and corruption in financial matters affecting our country (“Childish hissy fit: Why some federal workers can’t describe their own job to DOGE,” Web, Feb. 26).

In doing so, he also has the perfect right to appoint or hire people to investigate these budgetary line items. Such individuals need not be “elected” to do this job; they are just an arm of Trump’s presidential authority as chief executive and commander in chief.

Finally, President Trump received his authority, overwhelming, from the people of the United States through his stated campaign promises to the people.
