As a scientist, I read “RFK Jr. gets final approval to ‘go wild,’ vows to ‘solve the childhood chronic disease epidemic’” (Web, Feb. 13) with great interest. From the perspectives of national security and well-being, there is nothing more important than seeking to foster and maintain the good health of our population. Healthy citizens are productive, happy citizens. Sadly, however, our national health institutions have not abided by the Hippocratic Oath (“do no harm”) when it comes to such endeavors as approving experimental mRNA vaccines that appear to have done more damage than good. Neither are they serving the interests of humanity when they fund “gain of function” research with the aim of creating deadlier strains of pathogens to make potent bioweapons that kill instead of heal.
This has nothing to do with improving health; it’s about making us all sick.

Finally, the fact that research scientists and medical doctors were summarily censored and even lost their jobs when they dared to speak out or challenge the status quo (such as discussing alternative treatments for COVID-19) demonstrates that many of the so-called “leaders” within our government health agencies have forgotten that science cannot flourish without reasoned debate and peer review.

Though RFK Jr. is not a scientist, I believe that he has the best interests of our citizenry at heart, unlike Big Pharma, which only seeks to maximize profits and the government agencies that serve it.
