OPINION:
Is anything being done to address the shortage of U.S. District Court Judges in Washington, D.C.? I have to assume there is a shortage because every case involving President Trump, either directly or indirectly, ends up in Trump-hating Judge Tanya Chutkan’s courtroom.
Let’s list them: all the Jan. 6 cases, special counsel Jack Smith’s D.C. indictment of Trump and now multiple filings regarding the Trump administration’s policies, such as firing federal employees and searching for waste, fraud and abuse in government spending. It’s sort of hard to believe all these Trump cases falling nto Chutkan’s courtroom is a coincidence, isn’t it? And I have not even mentioned the fact that Chutkan and other district court judges seem to accept the idea that federal judges have authority when it comes to decisions made by the U.S. chief executive about matters in his executive departments.
Here I thought there was something called separation of powers between the three branches of government, but apparently that’s not the case when Trump is the president.
