OPINION:
I recently watched on TV as Sens. Chuck Schumer, Maxine Waters and a few other disgraceful politicians screamed their heads off about the new Department of Government Efficiency, saying they would fight and rage war against President Trump (“A comprehensive look at DOGE’s firings and layoffs so far,” Web, Feb. 19).
In their contempt, they have mercilessly gone after Elon Musk, who has to date found that at least $55 billion of our tax dollars has funded all sorts of wasteful, illegal nonsense. And Rep. Ocasio-Cortez had the unmitigated gall to suggest recently that border czar Tom Holman should read the Constitution. Meanwhile, she commits serious criminal acts herself (for example, telling illegals how to evade law-enforcement officials).
As a former law-enforcement officer, I suggest AOC read U.S. Code 18, sections 2385 and 2383. The former reads, in part: “Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States” is guilty of trying to overthrow the government, according to it. And under section 2381, she’s also guilty of treason — a crime punishable by “not less than five years” in prison, a fine of “not less than $10,000” and the prohibition against future office holding.
The FBI and Justice Department refused to bring charges against Schumer, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Jerry Nadler and the worst of the bunch, Sen. Schiff, for lying about having evidence of President Trump colluding with Russia. Those lies obstructed justice in the Robert Mueller investigation. These same politicians are now conspiring and colluding to undermine the Trump administration with acts of sedition and threats of insurrection and rebellion. They should be brought to justice.
