Anthony Rendon, the former Washington Nationals third basemen who signed a $245 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019, is injured again. The Angels announced Wednesday that the 34-year-old would miss extended time with a hip injury.

Rendon has played just 257 games in five years with Los Angeles. He has not played in more than 60 games in a season for the franchise as constant injuries derailed his career.

During the Nationals’ 2019 World Series campaign, Rendon hit 44 doubles, 34 home runs and 126 RBIs while maintaining a .319 average in 146 games.

In the five years since that run, the former All-Star has managed just 50 doubles, 22 home runs and 122 RBIs in 257 games.

Rendon is under contract through the 2026 season and can earn more than $77 million over the next two seasons, based on his original deal.
