OPINION:
It’s becoming ever more apparent that the Democrats’ recent scare tactics have succeeded in driving investors to the sidelines, with many people moving their cash to money market accounts. But there are still investors and business owners out there who are confident of a better economic future in America, and they constitute a movement that continues to gain momentum.
These investors show the same courage that inspired millions of immigrants to come to America, especially in the early years, with so much uncertainty. Those immigrants came because they valued their freedoms — political, religious and financial opportunities — over their security. It’s difficult to get one’s head around the incredible courage of such people, who came here to have a life better than the oppressed one they left behind, whether because of the tyranny of the monarchies of Europe or socialism, Marxism or communism.
Anyone hearing the news this week that President Trump nodded off during a Tuesday Cabinet meeting have to acknowledge that even Christopher Columbus probably fell asleep from time to time on the bow of his ship on his way to the New World. Think of the incredible emotional and physical strains of that historic voyage, after all.
So let the naysayers, skeptics and faint of heart stay on the sidelines. It is my opinion that brave Republican and conservative investors, small-business owners and entrepreneurs will once again win the day in America, and the Democrats will simply be left behind on the trip to the New World.
