Montgomery County police said a Kentucky girl who had been missing since October was located by authorities this weekend in Silver Spring.

Police said they worked with the U.S. Marshals to find missing 13-year-old Wynter Wagoner inside a home in the 12000 block of Dalewood Drive on Friday.

Authorities said they arrested Christian Alexander Delgado, 37, at the residence and charged him with kidnapping.

“We are incredibly grateful that [she] has been found safe,” Wynter’s family said in a statement to WUSA-TV. “These past weeks have been unimaginably painful for our family, and we are thankful beyond words to law enforcement in Kentucky and Maryland, the U.S. Marshals, and everyone who shared [her] story and kept her name alive.”

The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office in southeastern Kentucky first reported Wynter missing on Oct. 14.

Montgomery County police said they received a tip about Wynter’s possible whereabouts just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Officers and U.S. Marshals arrived at the home on Dalewood Drive a short time later and found the missing girl, police said. Wynter was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation after she was located.

Mr. Delgado remains behind bars in Montgomery County while he awaits extradition to Kentucky.
