D.C. police said one man was killed in a Northeast shooting and five others were wounded in a mass shooting near downtown this weekend.

Metropolitan Police said officers responded Saturday to a shooting in an alley in the 4400 block of Jay Street Northeast just before 6:30 p.m.

Police found a man, whose identity was not disclosed, suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene.

Emergency personnel took the victim to a hospital, but he died of his injuries while in treatment.

No suspects or persons of interest have been named in the slaying.

A day earlier in Shaw, authorities said five men were hit by gunfire in a targeted shooting near the intersections of 5th and N streets in Northwest.

Police said three men were found suffering from bullet wounds in the area of the shooting around 9:20 p.m. Friday.

All three victims were conscious and breathing, and were taken to a hospital soon afterward.

Officials said two more men with gunshot wounds arrived at a hospital on their own, and investigators said they are connected to the other three victims.

Police said all five men who were wounded are expected to survive.

Authorities are looking for multiple suspects who sped away from the shooting in a black Honda Accord with D.C. tags. The suspect vehicle was last seen in the 1200 block of 5th Street Northwest.
