OPINION:
So the Supreme Court has ruled against the deployment of National Guard members to Chicago (“Supreme Court rules against Trump on deploying troops to Chicago,” Web, Dec. 23).
The justices are apparently unconcerned about the Chicago police refusal to respond to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle that was rammed and blocked in Broadview, Illinois, in October. (Or the two National Guard members who were ambushed and shot in the head in Washington last month. Or sometimes-violent nationwide efforts to impede ICE enforcement activities.)
If this ruling results in the injury or murder of any immigration agent, the court will have blood on its hands. Sitting behind a bench is only deceptively safer than experiencing conditions on the ground.
