OPINION:
We have prosecuted a war on drugs for decades and have failed, notwithstanding the dedication of loyal agents and the expenditure of billions of taxpayer dollars.
The cost of failure includes the deaths of approximately 100,000 Americans annually, including, in the past week, movie director Rob Reiner and his wife.
Presidents come and go, declaiming that their efforts will stem this societal suicide, but their well-intentioned efforts go nowhere. President Trump recognizes the problem and the failure and has decided to go the next step by expending resources more directly: targeting narco-states such as Venezuela that are complicit in this slaughter of Americans.
The oil tanker blockade is welcome news.
