Erika Kirk said she and commentator Candace Owens will meet Monday, following Ms. Kirk’s request that Ms. Owens stop pushing conspiracy theories about her late husband’s assassination.
Charlie Kirk’s widow took to social media to announce the private, in-person discussion, adding that she is looking forward to a “productive conversation.”
Ms. Owens responded that she’s “very much looking forward to this discussion.”
The two women hold different perspectives on the death of political activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on Sept. 10. Ms. Owens, a former Turning Point USA employee, has been amplifying conspiracy theories online about the assassination.
Kirk’s widow made a recent appearance on a CBS town hall, where Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss asked Ms. Kirk what she would want to say to Ms. Owens.
“Stop,” Erika Kirk said. “That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
Ms. Owens, who previously compared her relationship to Kirk as “brother and sister,” has posted numerous videos after his assassination, pointing to conspiracy theories about his murder and other unfounded claims.
Tyler Robinson, 22, faces several state charges in the killing, including aggravated murder, for which Utah prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty.
Ms. Owens has expressed doubt about prosecutors’ explanations that Mr. Robinson and his romantic partner appeared to confess in Discord group messages.
Ms. Kirk has strongly objected to Ms. Owens’ comments.
“When you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this, no,” Ms. Kirk recently said on Fox News.
Ms. Owens has suggested that Turning Point USA insiders were part of a plot to assassinate Kirk, even questioning Ms. Kirk’s motives, as she took over as the head of the conservative student group.
TPUSA has denied Ms. Owens’ claims and said it would host a livestream Monday to address each of her theories. While invited to participate, Ms. Owens said she had a scheduling conflict.
