Sen. Mark Kelly has given many honorable years of military service to his country. This makes it worse that he would act seditiously; he should have known better (“Mark Kelly rips ‘unqualified’ Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth amid video probe,” Web, Nov. 30).

Military people already know not to follow “illegal orders.” Benedict Arnold was an able general in the Revolutionary War. His treason was made worse by the fact that he was in the military and not a civilian.

Although Sen. Kelly’s act was not on the level of Arnold’s, it is only a difference of degree. Arnold couldn’t hide behind his past military success, and Sen. Kelly shouldn’t be able to do so either.
