Funeral home workers found a man with a side wound dead at a cemetery in Houston. Police are unsure whether the wound was caused by a gunshot.

Staff at the Forest Park Funeral Home found the dead man at around 7:30 a.m. Friday, Houston Police Department Detective Johnathan Smith told Houston’s KTRK-TV.

A post on X from the police suggested the man died from a gunshot, but no casings were found at the scene and now police are unsure what caused his death, reported another station, KHOU.

“Right now, we don’t know if this was a gunshot wound. All we know is that he does appear to have a wound on his side,” Mr. Smith told KTRK.

Police have not publicly identified the deceased, but officials indicated the victim was a Black man in his 20s or 30s, according to Houston’s KRIV.
