OPINION:
Outrageous and treasonous! The words recently uttered by Rep. Delia Ramirez, that she is “a proud Guatemalan before I’m a proud American” by should result in her being removed from Congress immediately by the vote of all the other 434 members, then possibly deported back to that country that does hold her allegiance, Guatemala (“‘Squad’ member Rep. Delia Ramirez puts America second at gathering in Mexico City,” Web, Aug. 5).
Ramirez took an oath to the U.S. Constitution, became a U.S. citizen and represents hundreds of thousands of Americans in her district. It is precisely this sort of divisive thinking from the diversity, equity and inclusion and progressive crowds that is tearing this country apart one step at a time. It’s not a free speech issue.
This is the United States of America, not some banana republic which Ramirez seems to favor over the country to which she has taken an oath of allegiance. There is no room for debate here.
Upon her return to Guatemala, perhaps she can run for president there, since she has experience working in the greatest nation ever to exist in human history.
