A WNBA fan has been arrested after authorities said they threw a sex toy onto the court during a game between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries, the league confirmed on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Dream’s stadium in College Park, Georgia. It was followed by a similar incident during the Valkyries’ game against the Chicago Sky on Friday.
League officials have not said whether they identified the person responsible for the second sex toy incident.
The individual accused of throwing the item in Georgia faces a one-year ban by the league.
“The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league. Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials, and fans,” the league said in a statement.
WNBA officials also warned that they would prosecute any fans who throw items onto the court.
The sex toys made headlines around the league last week, eliciting incredulous responses from players and fans.
“ARENA SECURITY?! Hello??!” New York Liberty forward Isabelle Harrison wrote on X. “Please do better. It’s not funny. never was funny. Throwing ANYTHING on the court is so dangerous.”
“Stop throwing dildos on the court,” Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever said. “You’re going to hurt one of us.”
