The Washington Commanders will no longer host the Baltimore Ravens for a joint practice next week, the teams announced Thursday.

The Ravens said logistics proved too difficult to justify the intersquad work.

The two teams will still face each other in a preseason finale at Northwest Stadium on Aug. 23.

“Recognizing the logistical challenges — with our teams’ previous games scheduled on different days — and the added strain on players heading into a short week, the Ravens and Commanders mutually agreed to no longer hold a joint practice next week,” the Ravens said in a statement. “Instead, we will concentrate on preparing for our upcoming preseason matchup.”

The joint practice was originally scheduled for Aug. 21, two days before the preseason finale, at the Commanders’ facility in Ashburn, Virginia.

The “short week” likely refers to the Commanders’ schedule. Coach Dan Quinn’s team will host the Cincinnati Bengals in a Monday night exhibition.

The Ravens have a more traditionally scheduled preseason game on Saturday in Texas against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Commanders and Ravens have engaged in separate joint practices already this preseason. The Ravens hosted the Indianapolis Colts last week, and the Commanders flew to Massachusetts for extra work with the New England Patriots before their preseason opener.
