OPINION:
Enough already! I do understand partisanship in politics, and I do understand that many Democrats might literally sacrifice their own families if it would hurt President Trump, but good grief, how can anyone in his or her right mind oppose the president’s initiative to make Washington safe (“Trump’s rhetoric about D.C. echoes a history of racist narratives about urban crime,” Web, Aug. 12)?
There is not one sane person — male, female, white, Black, brown, yellow or any other color — who would willing walk the streets of Washington at night by him- or herself. I recall reading a report during our Middle East wars that a young Black man was safer in combat than he was in American inner cities.
People of all races and ethnic groups should be cheering loudly for the president’s effort to make the city a safe place to live and work, yet Democrats and the mainstream media are so sick with Trump Derangement Syndrome that their knee-jerk response is to vehemently oppose this project. What is wrong with these people?
