OPINION:
I thought the senators and representatives we pay to go to Washington are supposed to represent us, “We the People,” U.S. citizens.
Based on a recent letter I just received from Sen. Tim Kaine, I was wrong.
The letter expresses the senator’s “deep concern” for “undocumented immigrants.” He goes on for six paragraphs about the virtues of illegal aliens who have broken our law by entering the country illegally. Many have broken that law repeatedly, and many have broken other laws, having committed rape, murder, child molestation, human and drug trafficking, robbery, assault and so on.
Illegals dance around at protests, waving the flags of foreign countries while burning the American flag. They refuse to assimilate into our culture and system of laws.
To me — as an American citizen, veteran, Virginia resident, retired foreign service officer and retired U.S. history and Advanced Placement government teacher — Mr. Kaine’s letter is indicative of the man’s lack of concern for the citizens he is supposed to represent. It shows distain for our laws (laws Congress has passed and not changed), distain for the Commonwealth of Virginia, which he is supposed to represent, and distain for the sovereignty of our republic.
Sen. Kaine and those who cheer for “undocumented immigrants” (read: illegal aliens) have betrayed their true constituents and violated their oath to the Constitution of the United States.
