The Washington Commanders could be headed to the small screen during this summer’s training camp.
The playoff squad from last season is now eligible for the NFL’s popular “Hard Knocks” show after officials reportedly changed the eligibility guidelines at last week’s league meetings.
Originally, franchises were exempt from participating if they made the playoffs in the past two seasons, were featured on the show in the past decade or had a first-year head coach. With the number of eligible teams dwindling, the NFL removed the exemption for playoff appearances, according to multiple reports.
With “Hard Knocks” not exactly popular with teams that find it a distraction, the Commanders were initially safe from consideration after last season’s unexpected run to the NFC title game. Now, quarterback Jayden Daniels and coach Dan Quinn could grace TV screens this summer.
Washington is one of 20 teams eligible for the preseason program.
Any team that participates in the newer, in-season edition of “Hard Knocks” in 2025 will be exempt from the training camp edition. The NFL has not announced which four-team division will be featured during the upcoming campaign.
