OPINION:
While we can only speculate about why Shedeur Sanders did not get picked in the first round of the NFL draft as expected, one can surmise that something is off (“Shedeur Sanders’ dramatic fall to Day 3 of the NFL draft is still baffling,” Web, April 27). Sanders’ talent is obvious. His leadership, work ethic and ability to get along with teammates and accept coaching is another thing all together.
The NFL is all about merit and potential. You either have it or you don’t. For all teams to pass Sanders by in the first, second and third rounds tells the story quite clearly. There is something off. It might be Sanders’ fault and it might not be, his but it is there.
It is not racism, and to claim as much is absurd. NFL teams do not want to deal with drama, toxic people or other problems. Who does? Whatever it is, the teams all have a right to pass over him Sanders.
