At the Semafor World Economy Summit last week, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Martin Makary said he has “no plans to take action” to restrict the availability of mifepristone, the pill used in most medical abortions in the U.S.

Yet in addition to murdering the unborn, this medication has been proven to be dangerous to the women who take it. I stand with Sen. Josh Hawley, Missouri Republican, who expressed his great disappointment in Makary’s words.

In fairness, President Trump did say during his campaign that he would not ban the abortion pill, so Makary’s comment comes as no surprise. However, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he would study the dangers of the pill if confirmed to his current post. But as time ticks by, thousands and thousands of unborn babies are being killed by this medication and their mothers face health complications and even death, in some cases.

Even after Roe v. Wade was overturned (with not a small number of states banning most abortions), abortion numbers have actually have gone up, no thanks to the abortion pill that has still not been banned.

Why is the Trump administration seemingly more concerned about keeping dangerous illegals out of our nation than protecting babies and their mothers from a dangerous pill? Correct me if I’m wrong, but is not the primary duty of all elected officials to protect the public from harm? Sadly, I am left to conclude that President Trump has failed the unborn and therefore cannot call himself “pro-life.”
