The Washington Commanders added another weapon for quarterback Jayden Daniels on Saturday, selecting wide receiver Jaylin Lane in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

Lane is a dynamic playmaker who impressed scouts with his athleticism at the combine and his versatility at Virginia Tech last season.

In 12 games with the Hokies in 2024, the South Carolina native ran for two touchdowns, caught two scores and returned a punt for a touchdown. He ended the campaign with 38 catches for 466 yards on top of 216 rushing yards.

At February’s combine, Lane finished near the top of the wide receiver class in the 40-yard dash, 10-yard split, vertical jump, broad jump and 20-yard shuttle.

The rookie joins a wide receiver room that added former All-Pro Deebo Samuel through a trade with the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. He’ll likely compete with Luke McCaffrey, last year’s third-round pick, for playing time.
