The Washington Commanders wrapped up the NFL draft on Sunday by adding UCLA linebacker Kain Medrano in the sixth round and Arizona running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the seventh round.

Medrano and Croskey-Merritt were the final two of Washington’s five selections during the weekend’s draft. The Commanders had traded away several picks in advance to add cornerback Marshon Lattimore, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and left tackle Laremy Tunsil.

Medrano was a team captain for the Bruins last season, starting all 12 games. He forced a team-high three fumbles and was named third-team All-Big Ten after the campaign.

The speedy linebacker will learn from Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu, Washington’s core defenders who anchored the defense last season.

Croskey-Merritt provides needed depth in the Commanders’ running back room. Starters Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr. were both hampered by injuries last season.

Croskey-Meritt missed all but one game last season due to eligibility issues. The 24-year-old ran for 1,190 yards for New Mexico in 2023 before his transfer to Arizona.
