The Democratic Party threw everything it had against Donald Trump starting before his improbable election in 2020: the Russian collusion hoax, multiple impeachments and numerous lawfare excursions into dubious legal territory.

Legacy media played its role as a propaganda ancillary of the party. A few mentally disturbed individuals, energized by media lies, tried to assassinate him. Still he prevailed and rose again to become a two-term chief executive by speaking plainly to concerns of the average voter, not to the elite, highfalutin or academic crowds.

Trump’s political opposition, soaked in hubris and consumed by hatred of everything Trump, remains dazed by his success, unable to adapt his winning message. Leftists nowadays are ideological purists, concerned with forcing rejected ideas down voters’ throats. Eventually, some insightful Democrat will buck the party line, evade the border collie used to herd stragglers, escape the kennel that hidebound party leaders use to corral their members and proclaim a policy platform congenial to the hoi polloi. One can always hope.
