The purpose of government is to protect the rights of its citizens from foreign and domestic enemies, not to manufacture rights for illegal aliens — especially those engaged in criminal activity in addition to being in the U.S. unlawfully (“The limits of due process for illegal aliens,” Web, April 22).

The spectacle of Democrats using public money to fly to El Salvador for this purpose shows a contempt for American citizens that is truly off the wall.

The crisis in American education evidently extends to law schools, which can twist the law for political purposes. Such teaching eventually seeps into the halls of Congress and even into the Supreme Court, where not all justices are certain of the difference between a man and a woman.

Rights come from God, not the government. Thomas Jefferson said that “man … has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.”

The position that that non-citizens of the United States have the same rights as citizens is indefensible.
