OPINION:
Al Gore of gimme-all-your-money-so-I-can-feign-fighting-climate-change fame, likened President Trump’s administration to Nazi Germany by saying both brought massive assaults on liberty.
Sigh. Goodness sake, Mr. Gore. Don’t you have a chad to go hang or something?
Maybe the lesson here is: Democrats always accuse that of which they themselves are guilty.
But as NBC News reported in a story with the headline, “Al Gore likens the Trump administration’s ’attacks on liberty’ to Nazi Germany,” — this is what Gore said in a conference in San Francisco on the climate: Team Trump’s “scale and scope of the ongoing attacks on liberty are literally unprecedented.”
That’s just stupid.
How can attacks on liberty be described as “unprecedented” when they’re compared to a precedent?
More from Politico: “Speaking at an event at the start of San Francisco’s Climate Week, Gore said the Trump administration was ‘trying to create their own preferred version of reality’ to achieve their sweeping objectives similar to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party in the 1930s and 40s.”
“I understand very well why it is wrong to compare Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich to any other movement,” Gore said — as he went ahead and did it, anyway.
But his initial instinct was correct.
There are indeed key differences between Hitler and Trump — namely, Hitler mass murdered Jews while Trump defends them, most recently by yanking federal funding from universities that foster antisemitism.
Perhaps to Gore that’s all potatoes, potahtoes.
Perhaps to Gore and his anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, history revisionist, gaslighting Democrat friends, Trump’s attempt to uphold law and order, and deport violent criminal gang-banging, drug-dealing, sex-trafficking thugs is akin to gassing to death millions. But honestly, it’s not.
The first upholds the Constitution and common sense.
The second is murder and ethnic cleansing and evil.
No wonder Democrats are confused.
“[The Nazis] attacked the very heart of the distinction between true and false,” Gore said, NBC News reported.
Yes. And it seems to still be working on Democrats. Gore wouldn’t know a Nazi if it bit him in the you know what.
