OPINION:
Who is running this country — unelected activist judges appointed by various administrations or the president and his administration (“Judge raises the stakes in deportation battle with Trump,” Web, April 16)?
Ever since Donald Trump entered presidential politics, he has been harassed, prosecuted, persecuted and otherwise harangued by radical leftists and Democrats of all stripes. Yet he has prevailed in nearly all of these assaults. There’s one simple reason he is being assaulted and badgered now, by the left and its activists: He’s Donald Trump.
Democrats are truly disparate in their affront to resist and take down President Trump. In the deportation standoff between him and Judge Paula Xinis, the judge and the left would make illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia an innocent victim of the system (not unlike the way convicted felon George Floyd became a martyr). Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Maryland Democrat, even traveled to El Salvador this week in an attempt to see Abrego Garcia and offer him aid and comfort, neither of which he deserves.
Mr. Abrego Garcia may have been mistakenly deported, but there’s no dispute that he was in the U.S. illegally. And he is probably a member of a vicious gang. Yet would-be do-gooder Sen. Van Hollen insists on meddling in the affairs of another sovereign country to secure this illegal alien’s return to the U.S. Aiding and abetting the entry of an illegal into this country is a crime. I’d like to see El Salvador intervene to prevent put at end to the senator’s crime and kill his mercy mission.
Mr. Abrego Garcia is back home in El Salvador, where he belongs. Send Van Hollen back home to the U.S. empty-handed.
