OPINION:
In “Vote for the ideology that will define America’s future” (web, Aug. 23), journalist Lisa Daftari indicates that because the U.S. is at a critical juncture, we should forget about the two presidential candidates and instead focus on which ideology will better serve our country.
One political party believes in freedom; the other believes in limiting rights. One party understands capitalism and the fact that when it’s allowed to work without excessive government interference, regulation and crippling taxes, it serves the nation and our citizens exceptionally well.
The other party is enamored with socialism, bordering on communism. It wants to determine what should be produced, how much you should pay and how and when you use what you buy. They believe basic rights including speech, thought and faith should be monitored and controlled by the government in an Orwellian manner.
Democrats’ lies about their accomplishments over the past four years and the notion that Kamala Harris should be elected president to “finish the job” are ludicrous. If they are indeed allowed to finish the job, our country will look more like Venezuela or Cuba than the United States. Their inflationary money printing, high taxation and uncontrolled spending have given us 19.4% inflation since they took office (not to mention more than 10 million illegals, unaffordable housing and rampart crime). It has also included a disgraceful withdrawal from Afghanistan, incompetent leadership and a world on the brink of war. We have had illegal surveillance, citizens’ civil rights suspended and a justice system weaponized. Ask Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Let’s not forget that Ms. Harris’ “work” in California contributed to the destruction of San Francisco, and Tim Walz, as governor of Minnesota, allowed Minneapolis to burn while he and his wife opened their windows to take in and enjoy the smells of a burning city and revolution. These two are captivated by communism; Mr. Walz frequently praises China and has visited many times.
Let’s remember that whenever and wherever communism has taken root, rights have been suspended, millions have been killed, imprisoned and enslaved, and the overwhelming majority are incredibly poor. Look no further than China and the Uyghurs or Pol Pot’s regime in Cambodia for proof. Mr. Walz’s dream of everyone having an equal amount of rice in their bowl means no one has anything — except a privileged few at the top, who have it all.
