OPINION:
So President Biden sees Trump supporters as garbage, just as Hillary Clinton threw those same supporters into a basket of “deplorables” (“Biden calls Trump supporters garbage,’” web, Oct. 29).
Mrs. Clinton is still at it, suggesting that former President Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally was tainted by a 1939 America First rally that took place there. It’s insane to try to make any connection between the two events. Her husband was nominated for president in the garden. Is he a Nazi, too?
Mrs. Clinton’s grasp of history is bad, but her understanding of geography is worse. Mr. Trump and the America Firsters rallied in different Madison Square Gardens at different locations. The 1939 location was demolished and replaced in 1968 by one 11 blocks from the 1939 venue.
The “garbage”- and “deplorables”-tainted venue claims are of the same ilk as other off-the-wall claims by Vice President Kamala Harris’ supporters, such as the one that a reelected Mr. Trump would put his opponents in concentration camps. The claims would be funny if they weren’t so outrageous and offensive.
