OPINION:
Washington Times columnist Robert Knight effectively prosecutes the case against Democrats for “aiding and abetting a party at war with nature, God and the liberties of the American people” (“Democrats at war with nature, God and American citizens,” web, Oct. 18).
A foreign enemy plotting to unravel the Constitution and rip apart the fabric of American values and culture could not have been more destructive than the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris.
The question is how to fight this formidable force that is buttressed by the mainstream media, the entertainment industry and educational institutions. How do we restore constitutional freedoms, a culture of life, the recognition of reality and plain old common sense?
Throughout the centuries, people of faith have witnessed the social impact of religious revivals, through which God changes the hearts of multitudes, who go beyond personal transformation to effect tremendous political change. Such movements have spurred the end of slavery, the protection of children and the advancement of women and civil rights.
Such a revival can begin with waves of repentance within our churches and other houses of worship, too many of which have compromised with the culture and retreated from political engagement.
Regardless of religious affections, a huge swath of Americans still seek a country that upholds the right to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” and First Amendment freedoms. They want commonsense laws that recognize and accommodate reality — the reality of male-female differences, the humanity of an unborn baby, military deterrence, border security, balanced budgets and more.
Conservative realists and the people of faith must lead the fight to restore these values and principles by persuading those who remain open to reason.
