When I first saw the headlines screaming that former President Donald Trump — who has laughingly been labeled a fascist by Kamala Harris — was threatening to have Liz Cheney executed by firing squad, I reflexively chuckled and said to myself, let’s wait 24 hours to see how this fake story shakes out (“Trump emphasizes war context of remarks about Liz Cheney facing guns,” web, Nov. 1).

Sure enough, when the full, unedited video in question was played, it all turned out to be nonsense — just as in previous cases involving some supposedly evil thing Trump said or did.

How far are Ms. Cheney and the Democrats willing to drag this story out? During the 1930s, when Hitler’s Nazi regime was getting increasingly oppressive, many Jews saw the writing on the wall and fled Europe when they had the chance. And it turned out to be the prudent move, sparing them from a terrible fate of the death camps.

When Mr. Trump wins this election, which I am sure he will, is the hysterical left going to exit the country en masse for fear that they’ll be persecuted and even executed? I highly doubt it.

To help blunt this endless charade of fake news designed to damage a second Trump administration, the conservative media needs to step up and point out just how ridiculous all these anti-Trump stories are.
