Police in Southern California on Sunday said a man recently released from jail was rearrested hours later after he was accused of hitting a security guard with a chunk of cement.

Riverside police said they charged Dandre Parker Jr., 25, with assault with a deadly weapon in the attack on the security guard working at a downtown grocery store.

Authorities said Parker came at the guard after he refused to leave the store.

Parker had just completed a six-month sentence for a robbery charge at a Riverside County jail when the attack took place, police said.

He was only a few hours into his three-year probation.
