Isn’t it remarkable that centers of higher education across these fruited plains are hosting a fifth column of anti-American and aggressively antisemitic thugs with nary a strong peep from the adults on campus (“Columbia shuts down campus after anti-Israel protesters take over Hamilton Hall,” web, April 30)?

Where are the presidents of these often-vaunted schools and the trustees who control their paychecks? This is not an anti-Israel protest movement any longer; it’s a desire to eliminate Jewish students from campuses, just as the Nazis did in Germany at the beginning of the Holocaust.

It beggars the imagination that Columbia University authorities would negotiate with nascent Nazis — and that President Biden has been effectively absent from this burgeoning fray. Evidently Michigan Electoral College votes are more important to Mr. Biden than the imperative of moral leadership.
