OPINION:
While Bill Clinton was the first president to send an email and Barack Obama the first to tweet, it is merely timing that dictates firsts.
George Washington was the first president to write a letter; William Henry Harrison was the first to ride on a train; Abraham Lincoln was the first to use the telegraph; Rutherford B. Hayes the first to use both a telephone and a typewriter, and Teddy Roosevelt was the first to ride in a stagecoach, airplane and electric vehicle.
William McKinley was the first president to ride in a nonelectric automobile; Warren G. Harding was the first to speak over the radio and drive an auto while in office. Dwight Eisenhower was the first president to ride in a helicopter, and Donald Trump the first to have an estimated 88 million followers on Twitter.
