In a blend of cutting-edge technology and matrimonial bliss, a Utah-based software engineer made waves on social media when he wore Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro mixed-reality headset to the ceremony.
Jacob Wright, employed at artificial intelligence startup RunPod, integrated the high-tech accessory into his wedding celebration with Cambree Wright, a Brigham Young University student. Despite his new bride’s hesitation, he sported the headset during their post-nuptial photo shoot on Feb. 10 and throughout their reception, capturing immersive first-person video — featuring the hit song “Starships” by Nicki Minaj.
“I try not to look because it’s a little creepy, it’s a little uncanny,” Mrs. Wright told SFGATE on a video call Monday, sitting alongside Jacob. “When he’s in the Apple Vision Pro, I let him do his thing.”
A particular picture of the event struck a chord online when featured on X. It depicts a scene where Mr. Wright, engaged with his hands-free display, juxtaposes with his wife, adorned in her wedding attire against the majestic backdrop of Utah’s mountainous landscape.
“He’s like, ’Hey baby, can we get pictures with the Apple Vision Pro?’” she said. “He probably asked me two or three times. I was like, ’No, no, no, we have to wait, we have to wait.’ And then I turn around one minute and he has it on.”
Mrs. Wright didn’t look happy, but said she was fine with it all. “I totally look pissed in the picture,” she admitted, “but I wasn’t pissed.”
