Country music legend Willie Nelson missed another tour date for the Outlaw Music Festival after having missed the first three performances last week on doctor’s orders.
Mr. Nelson, 91, helped start the Outlaw Music Festival in 2016. He missed the first three performances of the 2024 tour in Alpharetta, Georgia, and Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, on doctor’s orders.
Last Friday, his team informed fans via social media that Mr. Nelson was “not feeling well” and had been advised to continue resting in order to recover. The post did not say why Mr. Nelson was under the weather, but said he was expected to join the tour this week.
On Wednesday, his team issued an update saying Mr. Nelson would be missing that night’s concert in Virginia Beach. They added that they “expect Willie to return to the tour shortly,” without providing a time for his return.
Mr. Nelson’s son Lukas Nelson and the Nelson Family Band have filled in in Willie’s place, playing their own set including some of his biggest hits, Nelson representatives posted on social media.
The next show on the tour is being held in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, June 28. Other performers on the early leg of the tour include Bob Dylan and former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant.
The second leg, which kicks off July 29 after a three-week break, will include Mr. Dylan and rocker John Mellencamp.
