OPINION:
By removing traditional marriage, the national debt and any meaningful abortion language from the Republican platform, the business class that runs the party has officially parted ways with Christians.
Christians endured decades of false promises and mediocrity from Republicans only on the promise of Roe v. Wade. With that carrot now consumed and the GOP forced into a position of needing to deliver on its stated principles, the path of pragmatism proved far more attractive.
Moving forward, the GOP faithfuls will need to rely upon the feckless corporate class to carry the day for its quisling candidates and Chamber of Commerce toadies. As a Christian, I refuse to be backed into a choice of voting for which party will oversee government expansion, societal degradation and enrichment of the elite.
Maybe the GOP will carry the day in November. Maybe it won’t. Since I have no standing in either outcome, I will not stand with the GOP (or anyone else) on Election Day.
