OPINION:
Last Friday, I watched the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics and was disgusted by what I witnessed (“French accused of ’gaslighting’ with ’Last Supper’ denials as outcry over anti-Christian mocker,” web, July 29).
Millions of people around the world watched as they mocked Jesus Christ, my Lord and savior. They mocked the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci, portraying Jesus as a heavyset woman wearing a blue dress with a halo above her head. They depicted the disciples as drag queens strutting around the table. They showed scenes of people going off together to have sex. French President Emmanuel Macron hailed the opening ceremony, saying it had made France proud.
According to a 2023 Gallup Poll, 68% of Americans identify as Christians. That’s about 210 million people. All you Christians out there, where is your righteous outrage? As it says in Galatians 6:7: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that he will reap.”
Please, fellow Christians, stand up and denounce what took place last week. Millions of children saw the opening ceremony of the Olympics and this disgraceful portrayal of Jesus. Contact the advertisers of the Olympics and speak out. Tell NBC you are boycotting the station.
