A worker in Fostoria, Ohio, was killed and another was critically injured when a mobile home they were moving fell on them Monday morning.
The home was set to be moved Tuesday when the air jacks failed, crushing and killing a 37-year-old worker and severely injuring a 61-year-old man, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The older man was airlifted to an area hospital.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the deceased male and the injured male fighting with critical internal injuries. Also, to the deputies, fire and EMS that were involved in pulling them out from underneath the mobile trailer,” Seneca County Sheriff Frederick Stevens wrote in the post.
Law enforcement and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
Sheriff Stevens told the Akron Beacon Journal that “there was nothing suspicious about it and unless the coroner’s ruling provides different information, we consider it a tragic accident.”
