Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says former President Donald Trump will “sweep Iowa” and New Hampshire and ultimately become the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

“You know, [Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis gets 200 people, Trump gets 7,000,” Mr. Gingrich said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “That sort of tells you something. And Iowa’s a caucus state where people have to care enough to turn out, and I have no doubt that the Trump system has identified over 100,000 people who have committed to turning out for the president.”

The Georgia Republican predicted that “for all practical purposes,” the GOP nomination race would be over in January or February.

Mr. Gingrich also predicted that the 2024 presidential election will be between Mr. Trump and President Biden, and the former president will win because of his policies.

“Crime is going to be a big issue. The economy’s going to be a big issue, and every one of those issues Joe Biden is going to lose,” he said.

The Iowa caucuses are set for Jan. 15. The New Hampshire primary is set for Jan. 23.
