D.C. police said 51 cars had their windows shattered within a small area in Northwest in the predawn hours on Friday.

Authorities said vehicles were vandalized in the Woodley Park neighborhood when thieves smashed the cars’ side windows.

Police said several vehicles had their glove compartments and center consoles in disarray in the 2700 block of 29th Street Northwest. Some of the cars had items taken.



The estimated cost in damages is $51,000, according to police.

Police said the break-ins occurred between 1 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

No suspects have been identified by police so far.
