Thank you for publishing Everett Piper’s “These vacuous words can mean anything a Democrat wants them to mean” (web, Jan. 14).

In it, Mr. Piper clearly and completely presents the liberal Democrats’ seven ways to change the long-standing meaning of key ideas. I want to take his thoughts a bit further. What is the purpose of such manipulation?

Let’s take their meanings of “peaceful protest” and “insurrection” as examples. In the first, they protect the criminal behavior of their people, those who do their bidding, attack their enemies and direct the news away from their illegal behaviors toward the behaviors of others, against whom they easily levy the charge of racism.

By defining “insurrection” as any protest they don’t want anyone to hear about in a positive way, they attack their enemies while appearing to protect the country’s values. They do this because their public education system no longer teaches the basics necessary for independent thought or critical analysis. Thus, they get generations of people with diplomas who need to be fed thoughts. And they are more than happy to force-feed them.

This view of so-called progressive behaviors helps people understand why many traditionalists believe they are at war with traditional American values. They wage it in order to bring about their dream of a world order in which they are in charge. The problem with that goal is that it is based on a view of humanity that doesn’t include human limits or sin.

Such empire dreams always end in terror, slavery and decline. Beware, America.
