OPINION:
I extend my thanks and appreciation to The Washington Times for publishing and to Everett Piper for writing his outstanding, thoughtful commentary piece “Creation or chaos? It’s up to you to decide come November” (web, Jan. 21).
It seems obvious that the failure of many to recognize a Creator — the cause of the chaos described by Mr. Piper — is the belief that evolution, not a Creator or God, explains the creation of life on Earth.
The law of biogenesis excludes evolution as the explanation for life because it holds that only life begets life. In short, nonliving matter does not accidentally transform itself into living matter. No one has proved otherwise.
The discovery of the incredibly complex DNA molecule confirms the law of biogenesis. Yes, of course evolution does occur; it explains, for example, why we have many types of dogs, but not why we have life in the first place.
Did not the Founders of this nation write in the Declaration of Independence that the existence of a Creator was self-evident?
