Kansas City emergency medical staff treated 69 freezing fans during the Chiefs’ playoff victory against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday.

While the players endured the cold by crowding under heat lamps and resting on heated benches, fans huddled together under blankets. At kickoff, the temperature at Arrowhead Stadium hit minus 4 degrees, with the wind making it feel closer to 20 below.

According to the Kansas City Fire Department, the 69 fans needed treatment for frostbite, hypothermia and other cold-related injuries.

Saturday’s clash was the fourth-coldest National Football League game on record, with Green Bay’s 1967 Ice Bowl snagging the record at 13 below zero.
