OPINION:
The real story of “Inside the debate over Western boots on the ground in Ukraine” (web, April 8) is the rushing of French President Emmanuel Macron to fill the vacuum in Western leadership left by the weakness of President Biden.
When Donald Trump was president, no one ever doubted that the United States led the free world. Russia would never have invaded Ukraine and Hamas would never have attacked Israel. They feared Mr. Trump and never knew what he would do. But they knew what Mr. Biden would do: nothing. Consequently, they don’t fear him or the free world.
