OPINION:
For a long time now, I have seen our country falling into decay — and am I deeply concerned.
First we have continuous inflation caused chiefly by an overspending Congress, which is allowing exploding costs of health care and Social Security to add to a national debt that can no longer be paid back.
Second is the ever-increasing immoral sexual lives of our youth, which has sadly led to depression, drug use, unwanted pregnancies and even suicides.
There has been a huge erosion of the American work ethic, too. It’s apparent that a great many are choosing to live the easy life rather than find the well-being that comes with working, earning and accomplishing.
It is my firm belief that the reason we are seeing this decay is because of our drift away from traditional religious faiths and moral values and toward secular socialism. Sadly, this drift has been significant throughout our country and is due primarily to a longtime indoctrination by a mostly secular media and our educational institutions.
As people may have forgotten about the importance of traditional religious faiths and moral values, here is a reminder: They are the very foundation of our nation. They united us in the winning of both world wars and made us the strongest economy in the world.
The traditional faiths are, to me, Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In different ways, each says that God will ensure happiness in this life and the next for those care for others.
The 2024 general elections are on the horizon and are extremely important. I firmly believe we can return our nation to greatness only when we and our duly elected representatives see the tremendous importance of traditional faiths and moral values.
