OPINION:
Wednesday was a very sad day, as I spent it watching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment trial (“Senate Democrats dismiss first Mayorkas impeachment article as unconstitutional,” web, April 17).
As an independent voter, I can honestly say the people of this country were let down once again by the Democrats, who continue to hide the truth about our open borders. Instead of allowing in evidence by Republicans to prove their case as to why Mr. Mayorkas should be removed from office, there were a bunch of motions where the Democrats said there had been no violations under the law.
Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, closed the issue, essentially telling everyone in the country that we shouldn’t believe our own lying eyes.
What irks me to no end is why the Federal Bureau of Investigation hasn’t arrested Mr. Mayorkas under the treason laws. Treason is aiding or giving comfort to an enemy, and Mr. Mayorkas’ actions have certainly done both. Mr. Mayorkas has let massive amounts of illegal drugs into our country, killing thousands of Americans. If I didn’t know any better, I would say he is working for the drug cartels.
Mr. Mayorkas and the Democrats can’t play the “our southern border is secure” card knowing they let in criminals and an unknown number of terrorists, and that they made taxpayers foot the bill to boot.
Watching this man testify and lie to our faces should prove that he is guilty of dereliction of duty and, I daresay, treason. That makes him an accessory after the fact to all crimes committed by those he had the responsibility of stopping.
Those who denied the American people protection and justice under the law will pay for their crimes sooner or later.
