New and veteran drivers in Texas haven’t been able to get driver’s licenses this week after a botched system update forced offices to close.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Driver License Services, the update started over the holiday weekend and worsened when drivers tried to replace or renew their licenses or ID cards.
As a result, offices were closed Wednesday, with appointments from 7 a.m. to noon Thursday canceled. Online services also have been suspended due to similar issues.
Officials gave no estimate of when the issue would be fixed.
