OPINION:
In “Feds should investigate Venture Global, which is supposed to be sending LNG to Poland — but isn’t” (web, Sept. 13), Michael McKenna makes numerous factual errors about Venture Global.
Mr. McKenna’s central claim is that Venture Global is not sending cargoes to Poland. A simple public search shows that is false. To date, Venture Global has sent 13 cargoes to Poland — enough to heat a third of the homes in Poland for a month.
In fact, Venture Global will soon become the largest U.S. supplier to Poland, accounting for a third of the country’s natural-gas supply in the long term, according to Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin.
Poland wisely took steps to diversify its energy sources years before the rest of the world did. Venture Global was proud to be able to supply cargoes when the nation needed it most: when Russia cut off its gas supply.
Our company has also supplied 10% of all U.S. liquefied natural gas cargoes that have gone to Europe since early 2022. Our innovation has enabled us to bring LNG to the global market years faster than other suppliers.
Mr. McKenna also falsely asserts that Venture Global’s long-term contracts were designed to be fully implemented by 2022. Venture Global is and will continue to be in full compliance with our contracts and all federal regulations.
The key fact is that 70% of our exports are supporting European energy security. To criticize this accomplishment should anger Washington Times readers.
