OPINION:
President Biden talked about having Israel’s back, yet he recently told “60 Minutes” that Israel occupying Gaza again “would be a big mistake” (“Biden’s revealing downplay of Hamas’ terror,” web, Oct. 17). He also failed to tell Iran and Hezbollah that the U.S. would respond if either or both of them attacked Israel.
In addition to Hamas’ recent slaughter of more than 1,400 Israelis, it and other terrorist groups have for decades gone after innocent Israeli civilians by bombing and firing on schools, buses, temples, shops and numerous other places.
Israel is absolutely within its rights to stop the never-ending rocket and mortar attacks on its citizens, including Christians and
Muslims. For years after World War II, President Harry Truman kept a military presence in Japan, until a democratic government was established.
Gazans have been controlled by Hamas and would like to have basic freedoms. Israel should be allowed to occupy Gaza until a democratic government for the people has been put into place.
Actions matter more than condescending words.
